Style Inspiration Needed

I am posting on behalf of the lovely people on The Completely Crazy Clothes Challenge 2012 on the Debt-Free Diaries page.

Many of us are struggling for inspiration on what to wear and in particular to re-invent our look from what we already have especially as we are on a tight budget and in some cases zero!!

Now the season is changing it is especially hard to avoid old habits of just going out and buying a whole new wardrobe of stuff.

So what I want to know is where do you get your inspiration?

What blogs, magazines, websites etc do you look at to find whats hot and whats not? Any websites where you can re-style an old garment would be useful too!

Any help greatly appreciated and if you can include links even better.

Many Thanks

Tbh, I very rarely bother with what's 'hot' at the moment - especially with being on a budget. I know what kind of styles I like and what suits me and that's much more important to me then what might be in fashion for this season - otherwise you would need to buy a whole new wardrobe every year as well! Think about what kind of style you like - if you're stuck for ideas then is there perhaps someone in the media who's look you really like?
Charity shops are great for picking up more expensive labels/items cheap and the supermarkets can be great for basics and have some nice knitwear ranges coming in now for winter.
Also don't forget about accessories, quite simple outfits can be made more stylish/creative with jewellery, belts, bags, shoes etc.

Finally all my clothes come from Ebay mainly and I scored this wonderful skirt for £2.99 from Warehouse

If I buy from the shops I only do it when a discount code is going and I get cash back on a shop.

Charity shops are a gawd send.

Personally I think you need to find your own style and then mix and match your wardrobe with items that work with more then one piece

    Hope this helps

  • At this time I invest in a few long sleeved tops from primark and they have some stretch ( ones with no stretch are cheaper) and sometimes wear my coloured vest over the top and accessorise or add scarf for a few different looks. Or add a t shirt on top of long sleeved top or just llL/s top with scarf. You can mix them up under dressed too so your able to still wear what you want with a little spend. Eg £12 would get you 3/4 tops to add the variety. I also use eBay for scarfs etc Hope this garble makes sense x
