Fish smell - how to reduce/get rid off?

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right area so apols.
On Thursday evening I'll be frying a small amount of fish for Easter. I live in a flat with open plan kitchen/living room. The past few years I've tried a combination of open windows (doors closed, obviously) with the electric fan blowing on low, warm vinegar and/or air freshners, but the smell lingers for days.
I can't afford a conventional cooker hood right now, so any suggestions I've not thought of?
Just had a thought: a deep fat fryer! I'm off to investigate........

Try burning a candle after cooking the fish. It's meant to kill smellsComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0

Excellent idea! I'd forgotten about that and one of my bosses gave me a belated birthday present which includes a scented candle. The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420

if you leave a little dish/tub vinegar out somewhere it is supposed to take the odour out of the air,or bicarb with some essential oils in is supposed to be a natural air freshener:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

I'd like to report that the deep fat fryer was a great idea! Job done in an hour rather than 2+ and the smell was much reduced although it is still lingering even with the candles, vinegar and wide open windows.
Going to use the bicarb with essential oils today.
Thanks for all your suggestions.The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420
