Morning all
I'm not being deliberately so quiet... I'm just trying to balance everything that I want to get done in the time I have to do it. At the moment I'm still getting used to being back in at work after the 6 weeks, and the massive workload that I seem to have these days.
Anyway I managed a few frugal things yesterday, but I'm so pleased that I finally hung my washing out today instead of resorting to the drier I thought I'd come and make some more mini targets.
2 loads of washing done and hanging outside (please don't rain)
start thinking about the dreading C word coming up in a couple of months (I still have both kids birthdays in the next fortnight as well)
look into the idea of home made gifts for above C word. I expect that there are some forums on here that would be a good guide so I should make time to look. Thinking of starting with infused vodkas
check banking
mark a set of books (which will stop me overdoing the spending)
Don't laugh but for the first time ever I'm doing a roast chicken from scratch rather than buying one already cooked. Yes, at the age of 35 I had to ring up my mother and ask her how to cook a chicken. But I think I'll get 3 meals from it once I get the gross idea of taking the meat off the bones etc out of my head.
Maybe a trip to Ikea to stock up on jars and bottles for home made goodies.
Have a good day all.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
good for you Wannabe re the chicken! Definitely more frugal, and nothing to be ashamed about!
Re the home made gifts. I can recommend the superscrimpers raspberry liqueur - google it, I've made some (though not for gifts!)
Also google mulled wine and there is instructions to put together a gift (I think its on the good housekeeping website)DF as at 30/12/16

Morning all,
Thanks for the advice Welshwoofer, it's good to know it is possible to work full time & have a dog providing when you are home you make lots of time for them right away. We aren't thinking of getting one for quite a few years still as we need to pay off our debts first obviously & then we want to go travelling, plus I'm not sure if our rabbit would be too happy with a boisterous puppy "playing" with her! But it's definitely something we'd like in the future.
Wannabee - Better late than never
Maybe your DH can help you with the carving bit? I'm not a fan of thinking about bones in meat...(shows it was actually alive etc!!) so I leave that job to my hubby lol.
Tiggy - Hope your first week went well!
Yesterday was quite productive for me, I even sorted out the car tax & watched an episode of Superscrimpers!
Today's plan:-- Food from stores
- Log calories using free app
- Charge phone via pc
- Check online banking
- Must try & do a survey or 2
- DH not drinking all month
- Washing on eco setting
- Hang out to dry
- Study
- Free exercise on pole
- Must declutter a bit & do some flylady
- Dinner from meal plan tonight - Lasagne, will use a big pack of mince & freeze a portion of the bolognaise as it's cheaper that way
- Not sure if I'm going to go for a free drink down the pub I work (free as it'll be from my tips) or if I'll go shopping to see what's out there to spend our wedding gift vouchers on, & also get ideas for xmas...hmm.
- Either way I need to get out the box of gifts bought in the sales for xmas to see what I've already got & make sure I don't go OTT! No point buying stuff beforehand just to spend loads now

We need to do research on what dogs are ok with being left. Likely we will put it outside in a kennel in the day times, take it for a walk in the morning and after work. Lots of people do. I want a cocker spaniel but we think this dog has too much energy & won't like being left.
Lets ask La E she has a dog
Hey chickens,
OH and I now both work full time
He was out of work for the first 3 months after we got the dog, which probably made things a helluva lot easier for training and leaving him alone when we needed to/were both working... If he hadn't been at home we would've both taken separate 2 weeks annual leave so there was someone there for the first month. Now he's fine being left - touch wood, he doesn't really get into mischief either (friends have horror stories of them leaving their dogs and they chew the sofa to pieces etc...) I think he tends to sleep most of the day.
At the min he's quarantined (poor little sick puppy) but usually he would have big walk/run round the park after the ball before we leave for work, mini 15 min walk on lead at lunch time (I only work 10 mins away and come back every day) and longer walk to the woods/chasing ball round the park at night.
Cocker spaniels are sooo cute. I'm sure they'd be fine in an ave house with garden and lots of walks. Ours is half springer/half lab so has lotsa energy... Also, they say puppies should only have 5 mins walk for each month old they are (20 mins a day at 4 months etc) to save their hips so lots of toys where they need to use their brains are good to keep them quiet too - food hidden in a puzzle etc.
Other thing - we bought ours from a farmer - both parents were their working dogs - so that worked out a lot cheaper than going for pedigree dog/dog from 'spensive breeders. I've seen the same mix dog for £650 where we paid £250. (Not that I'm saying it's not a good idea to go to a breeder, just saying it worked well for us...:o) We got loads of doggy hand-me-downs too so we didn't need to fork out lots at the beginning, just for his jabs/microchip etc (shopped around and found a vets doing an all inclusive 'puppy pack' for £99).
Sorry, I've kinda gone on a wee bit
