Northern Rock Loan question
Comments
-
I went for the Northern Rock for my car loan about 10 months ago as they were offering the best rate at the time. I don't think I spoke to anyone once, just filled in the forms online, signed and returned a letter they posted out to me. Everything has gone smoothly since.Fiscal drag, that's my problem. Too many people dragging on my fiscals.0

We took out a Northern Rock loan a couple of year ago, when they offered 6.7% (the best rate at the time).
Setting up was quick and easy, no problems at all. It's flexible in that you can pay back additional amounts at any time without penalty, and you can even repay the whole thing in full without any redemption penalties.
Can't see any drawbacks...apart from the uncertainty of whether they'll offer you the best rate of course.

I recently applied for a NR loan and they told me that they 'recommended' that I took out the PPI, but that I could cancel it within 30 days. Also they only offered my 8.9%.
I took the loan with PPI and when I called to cancel the PPI they tried their hardest to prevent me from doing so;
- told me that I would have to re-apply for a loan to remove the PPI therefore another credit search would be preformed.
- told me that I 'may not' get the same APR (i.e. it may go up)
Generally left me feeling bullied and annoyed with NR tactics.
So I took a personal loan with my bank and paid NR their loan back within the 30 day cancellation period.0
