Post-apocalyptic survival hamper for sister

Hi
My sister's a bit of an odd one- a big reader and watcher of dvds but no other real interests. The big craze in our house at the moment is The Walking Dead and it's something we both enjoy. So for Xmas, I'm thinking about making her a comedic hamper based on 'survival'
- Apocalyptic books, like The Passage, etc.
- Swiss army knife (she's 16 so no issues hopefully!)
- 'Survival' food- sweets, etc,
- Labels off ebay to look Army-ish e.g 'Last remaining bag of Haribo in existence' lol
- Poster 'how to survive a zombie attack'
- Roughed up journal
- Camo backpack to put everything in (I'll put mine in a explorer style bag that came with an old Nat Geo Traveller subscription) and put the labels on it
- A few mini survival things- compass, fireproof matches etc
- Red glow sticks
- Local map (might add special effect blood
)
My labels read, with grey background and strong font, : PROPERTY OF BRITISH ARMY. USE ONLY IN EMERGENCY. QUARANTINE ZONE J, SPECIAL FORCES.
Trying to make it look authentic but not creepily so, with a hint of dark humour!
Not sure what else? Any other creative ideas?

Heeheehee - GREAT sounding gift! When one of my friends turned 30, I bought him a "survival hamper" - denture cleaners, advice guides on hair-loss, incontinence, etc...
How about a copy of this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Worst-Case-Scenario-Survival-Handbook/dp/0811845389/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1347665506&sr=8-2-fkmr0 and a tin-opener?! x0 -
Best idea EVER!

And if you Google 'zombie survival kit' you should find some more ideas.:rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf: :rudolf:0 -

To save you buying special effect blood, mix a small amount of instant coffee with a small amount of ketchup. If it looks too bright add a tiny scrape of brown sauce and mix till you're happy. Smear onto things for a delightfully clotted effect.
I used to work in television and on a few of the lower-budget location shoots there were no funds for dedicated make-up ladies so I did it. Much of what you need for basic SFX can be found in your kitchen.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

A even better way to make blood, is corn syrup/golden syrup/honey with red/blue food colouring.

Some brochures for Bristol uni, as they appear to be prepared: http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/preparation_for_the_zombie_apoca :rotfl:Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?

What a fantastic idea! I know some people that would like this. I was looking on Firebox too and saw this and that would look great in a shower

Im doing Zombie apocalypse hampers for my uncle and brother.
I found a great bargain in Home Bargains, a recipe book that was called something like 'Recipes you'd cook if it was the end of the world' It was only 39p!
So far I have:
Blood candy drink £1 Asda
Recipe book 39p Home Bargains
Body part sweets in a coffin shaped box 89p Home Bargain
Dr Dale's Zombie Dictionary: The A-Z Guide to Staying Alive book £2.99 Amazon
Headlight £1 Robert Dyas
Also going to add a fake plastic axe for fighting off the zombies, a zombie mask for camoflauge and maybe a pocket knife. The ideas on here are great, I might add a few things like matches, tin of beans and a can opener too hehe. Going to wrap it all in a brown paper covered box tied with string, if you dont mind Ill use your words on the front as they're perfect!
This book might be good for your sister? Cheaper from 3rd party sellers. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0762441062/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller='They only had one cow!'0 -
Oh also you can get an energy drink called Zombie but I can only find it online and its way tooo expensive with postage. Will probably end up buying MONSTER energy drink.

I've asked my zombie / sf mad boyfriend, and he's seconded the max brooks book suggestion.
He also suggested army pack ration food, similar to this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/24-HOUR-RATION-PACK-ARMY-ISSUE-MOD-MENUS-6-8-9-CAMPING-OUTDOOR-SURVIVAL-FOOD-/140865783726?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Camping_CookingSupplies_ET&hash=item20cc4147ae
