Maestro Cards

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone else was having the same problems as me, or if I'm making a big deal of nothing.
I have a basic bank account and am currently in a dmp so I neither want or need a credit card. As part of my basic bank account I have a debit card, which is Maestro.
Recently, when I've been making purchases online, I've found that there are a number of online retailers that accept Visa Debit but not Maestro. Has anyone else found this problem?
I bought a voucher from Group0n to buy a gift for someone - all I needed was to order from the company website and pay the £5 p&p. Except they don't accept Maestro. I rang them and offered internet or telephone banking, or Paypal, but was told no - and asked if I could borrow a card.
It really cheeses me off, and I'm starting to wonder if it's worth my while finding another bank with a visa debit rather than Maestro, although I could do without the hassle of changing all of my bank details again.
