CCj Settled. Sufficient evidence?

Two weeks ago I settled a CCJ after a bit of wrangling. I requested written confirmation from the Sheriffs Office that the matter was now closed. As I had always communicated via email (did not want to give my home address for obvious reasons) they sent me the following back by email:
Ref 8888888888888 Name/Name

We can confirm that the payment for £450.00 has now been allocated to the account.

This matter is now paid in full and our file has been closed accordingly.

Can I take this as evidence that the CCJ is considered settled? If not, what do I need to request? I was satisfied with the email but after discussing tenancy applications on another thread, it appears I may have been a bit naive in thinking this was sufficient. Any help/advice welcome as I now have to provide evidence that the CCJ is settled before the letting agency will even consider any application. Thanks :)

I would take that as proof, keep it very safe just in case though, you don't want anyone coming after you years later asking for payment, so print and keep safe and make sure your email is backed up too.

  • Is this from the Sherrifs office or the creditor? Can the Sherrifs office npt provide a cert of satisfaction like the county court would do in England?
  • The Sheriffs Office is the name of a High Court Enforcement company. It is an English company.
  • Ok I was confused, I thought you were dealing with the Scottish crowd of the same name.
  • You should be able to get a certificate of satisfaction from the court that issued the CCJ, the fee used to be £15. It's probably gone up a bit now.
