Anyone work for BT?

Hi I had an interview for a BT Apprenticeship 2 weeks ago for a new BT Centre that is opening in November this year so I assuming a lot of jobs available. I was told I would hear by last Friday but heard nothing at all until today I got an email that said:

We were very glad to have the opportunity of meeting you at our Hub. We were very impressed with your capabilities and agree you have a great deal to offer. You were successful at the interview but unfortunately there is no post available for you currently. We will keep your application and will notify you should a suitable vacancy become available.

Confusing? As I have only just seen the email it is too late to ring for feedback and I was just wondering is that a polite knock back or I have I been successful?

Personally I would take it as meaning that you had passed the minimum standards for the job BUT there where other higher scoring candidates who took all the available slots, but your performance WAS good enough to be considered for future jobs.

Use the examples that you used during the recruitment process when you apply for other jobs.

Thank you. I have decided not to ring them as like they've said if a position comes up they will contact me.

    Thanks again

I would suggest you email back, to say thanks for the response, restate your enthusiasm for the role and say you would be interested in more feedback if available.

That might just be enough to put you to the top of the pile if there are any drop outs/training failures in this intake.

    Good luck.
