Ideas gifts for a 4 year old

Hi,

Just looking for ideas for a 4 year olds birthday party. What sort of things are suitable and how much would one normally spend for an acquaintance?

Don't really know likes or dislikes so at the moment thinking, colouring book, crayons, felt tips....

Help much appreciated! Don't want it to be a gift that will just be cast away

You didn't if it was a boy or girl ?
My youngest has just turned four last week, he loves 'reading' (more telling the story from the pictures :) )maybe some picture books?, any type of stationary - pens, pencils, colouring books, sticker books, we also got him a small calculator which he loves as he is learning his numbers at the moment.
Maybe a trip to ELC? loads to choose from in there!

  • Thank you, it's for a girl. Yes, I think I will have a look in Elc. thanks again. :)
  • You can't go wrong with some nice books. The Book People or Red House are pretty good value. Sticker books also go down a treat.
  • I agree, can't go wrong with books or a selection of craft things. Craft items have the additional bonus that you can never really have too much paper, paints, stickers, things to stick and glue....
  • When my kids were that age they loved doing puzzles (obviously the ones with the quite large pieces). It kept them occupied for hours on end.

Agree with the books idea. You can get lovely picture story books from Poundstretcher for 99p each; great quality pictures and fun stories.

The book stall at our local market has loads of kids activity packs at 99p, we got the star wars one for our 4yo DS.
Hardly an activity pack but colouring in pictures, some crayons, some stickers, a height chart and a couple of stories seemed good value to us and he loved it, for a girl though you may want to get the Disney Princess version :)
