Weird text from CCS Ltd???

Hi all, I'm new to posting on this board as I don't have a debt problem (or not any more at least) but I'm wondering if anyone has come across this...
My partner got a text today Quoting my name & asking me to call 08704584308 using reference 424832 from CCS LTD.
A quick Google has brought up a debt management co (I think)
Am curious but not curious enough to call an 0870 number
Any Ideas???

Its a bit wierd that they haven't contacted you about this and only your partner. I wouldn't phone being an 0870 number. If they really need to contact you they would phone or write. I've never heard of someone texting if it is a debt management company. I would prehaps check all you documents (if you still have any) to make sure there is nothing outstanding from what you owed. Hope everything is ok.

Clutching at straws me thinks.
Surely if they wanted to get in touch with you then they would be able to do so by some more reliable means such as sending you a letter!
I would ignore it. It is not your phone they texted so I would not follow it up, especially if you are sure you have nothing lurking in the shadows
Leave it be and if it is anything "real" they will write to you, I'm sure.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
My Partner & I share a phone package so I'm guessing that may be how come he got the txt. We get one bill for two phones. My previous debts were relatively small & all cleared over 3 years ago. None ever went further than a couple of late payments so I really can't see what could be outstanding after all this time.
Thing is I have moved house since then. Thanks to all who post comps :A :T0 -
Hi Rach,
Looks looks like a scam to me. I doubt this has anything to do with a outstanding debt but a hoax to get you to call the 0870 what could cost you up to £5.00 for the call. Just imaganine if they sent this out to 10,000 people and 10% replied it would make them £5000 less expenses.
I would ignore it and unless you receive anything by post put it completley out of your mind.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0 -
Thanks all,
I guess you are all correct & I should ignore it, I'm just worried that I've forgotten a small debt somewhere & will get a ccj or something registered against me.
Curiosity is killing the cat but I'm determined not to call themThanks to all who post comps :A :T0 -

It is very unlikey although if you are concerned why not send away for your credit report? Its worth the £2 fee just to put your mind at restOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0 -
Hi
CCS Limited are a debt collector not a debt management company.
Hope this helps0 -
CCS Ltd:
COMMERCIAL COLLECTION SERVICES Ltd.

Debt Collectors.
It is DISGUSTING that companies like this are allowed to use names that can EASILY be confused with CCCS which is one of the most respected Debt Counselling Charities in the UK.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Hi
I completely agree with Crown, it does look like a scam. I advise at CAB and have never come across a company that contacts through text only. Where would their evidence be, it is really easy to claim that you never received the text. If it is important, they will write a letter outlining the details.SSB0 -
Thanks Rog2,
Managed to trace this company & call them (on a non 0870 number) & it turns out they are chasing for De Agostini Magazines for one issue of Star Wars magazine they say is unpaid for since last year!!!
I had written to cancel this in December before I ,moved house so they are cancelling further action & going back to De Agostini.
Can't believe they chase these things up by text, Incredible!! can't be for more than about £5.99 even if by some small chance I do owe it.
I agree the name is a disgrace!!Thanks to all who post comps :A :T0
