working in two places

hi all
Currently i am working in tesco as full timer,,, in the mean time i got the job offer from NHS..which will start from next week.
my main job will be nhs (37.5 hrs) and changed my tesco full time job into part time (16 hrs) from next week onwards.

when i went to accept the job offer , nhs made me to fill hmrc form where i ticked "this is my only job" thinking of quiting tesco job, but now tesco offer me part time,, so i wanted to continue it for a while because of my financial crisis.

now my question is? what can i do , do i have to let the hmrc, if yes then what i have to tell them, will they sort out my query via telephone...
and i dont want NHS to know that i am working in tesco aswell,,,
please help me out.
thank you all for going through my querry
takecare and god bless you all

Call HMRC explain that you have 2 jobs and that you want all your income tax relief applied to the NHS job and that you need them to communicate to tesco that you want all your pay from them to be taxed.

This prevents you having too much tax relief and owing HMRC money.

NHS will not know that you have another job - there are many reasons for people to have different tax codes so even if you had some of your tax free pay at Tesco they wouldn't get told you still worked there.

You might have to explain why Tesco don't give you a P45, but NHS may not be efficient enough to chase you for it.

NHS are likely to want you to be only working for them to prevent them having issues with your rest breaks and working time.

Best wishes in tackling your debt.

  • Your contract with the NHS probably requires you to notify other jobs.

Failure could result in instant dismisal.
  • Would this be the NHS that was happy to expect junior hospital doctors to work 60 hour weeks?

What sort of work will you be doing?

Oh the joys of the master and servant relationship.

    Good luck.

Are you trying to frighten the OP?

Whilst the NHS job probably does include a term which requires notification of other work, if they weren't notified and discovered there was another job it would not mean "instant dismissal". (Yes, I know you used "could" rather than "would".)
