CCJ help wanted

We are trying to find out what we owe and to whom. We sent for our credit report but this just tells us which organizations have been given information about us but does not give US our own information. So does anyone know how to go about finding out what we owe so that we can pay. This seems ridiculous that we can't pay our debts because we don't know who we owe what to. We know we have had CCJ's but don't know how to sort this out and can't rent a house in the meantime due to bad credit. Any help and advice appreciated. Thanks.

If you know who you owe money to, just ring them and ask for a statement.

Do you not have any paperwork at all.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • No we have been taken to court for old bills at old properties and have no information on what we owe.
  • All we know is that we have CCJ's and we can't rent a house.

Be warned that you have to pay to search
  • thanks for the info, tried it paid £4, it says there is nothing listed against my name and my old address but if I try to get a credit card or rent a house they say there is something on my credit report and I have been told I have CCJ's so I just don't know where to go from here.
  • Who told you that you have CCJs?

    How recent are they?

Do you know which addresses you were at when they were granted?

A CCJ stays on file for 6 years form the date of granting, so finding the creditor and paying is one thing, but this will not resolve your housing issue. If you have a CCJ then landlords will be looking for large deposits.

Easiest way would be to sign up online for credit file, ensuring that you put a full address history, and see what comes back. Debts as well as searches will be returned.
