You have to go onto the RM home page and enter the job code and password there, not through the assignment portal.

Thank you. I stupidly assumed I could access it from the new web site :( All submitted now.

I do actual ink and paper as I have a personal printer and a business printer.

Thanks Cupcake, I have two printers, so could easily split the two costs. I want to do whichever is more profitable for me, and I think actual costs for paper and ink cartridges will be of more benefit :D

I just claim half of the cost of the printer, ink and paper. You can't claim anything against reimbursement only jobs (you can only claim expenses against fees) so I'd say half is a pretty good estimate. If you wanted to keep a diary then that's up to you. I really don't think HMRC is going to worry about a few pence here and there.

To cut down on paper...print double sided...or print using the booklet printing option. You get 2 pages per side and when folded a 16 page document prints onto 4 pieces of paper and turns into a booklet. Depends on how small the print is though as some jobs the print is too small and can't be read.

Use black ink only. Even though the job notes are in colour I set the printing option to greyscale so no colour is used.

Thanks for the advice re reimbursement visits and actual jobs, wasn't aware you couldn't claim anything against reimbursement jobs. Have only completed a couple of them so far though.

Have already been printing in grey scale, and double sided, but never even considered using the booklet option, nice idea, cheers :D

    Where is that information from?

As for printing I use a price per page, I use a laserjet and HP have the estimated price per page all worked out so it takes the price of the toner, rollers and fusers into account along with the cost of the printer, I just add a penny for the paper, I keep a count of how many pages I print for each job and that goes on the spreadsheet.

    Good morning all,

Since MS'ing, I can't believe how much paper I'm getting through.

So I was wondering, as a taxable deduction, what do you fellow Mystery Shoppers claim? 6p per sheet of paper printed or receipted costs for actual paper and ink cartridges bought?

    Thanks in advance :)

I don't print every sheet of paper for the assignments. I may only print things like checklists, forms that I can fill in the stores for open audits and if on an eating out one, if it restricts what I can order either food, drink or both, I print that.

I just jot the rest as notes on a small 15p jotter pad from Wilkinsons as it looks like if when I read it, I could be checking on a shopping list.

Having spoken to someone at HMRC that information is wrong.
You treat reimbursement only jobs as though the reimbursement is the fee, you can then deduct travel and other associated costs against that, the only thing you can't put against it is the cost of the goods/meal.

Acceptable expenses would be travel, printing and parking.
