Do Amber Arch have any kind of payment schedule? Did some work over a month ago and looking back at what I have done before it takes up to a little over a month so I was rather hoping to have been paid by now. Might chase it up next week...

Think they do the majority of payments via paypal, but takes 6-8 weeks still. :(

their payments are not the most regular, I stopped when they took agggggggges to pay out on a lot of glasses visits that i did for them.
The fees have dropped even lower since and they show no signs of having improved payments so def recommend a chase up.

Ha! I did my first job for them in January and had completely forgotten that they pay via paypal; I was about to join in the complaints of not having been paid until you reminded me. Lo and behold, the money's there. :o

Another company who told me you should expect payment in around 8 weeks for turn around but she did say that is the longest and it should normally be less :D

That ignore list is getting fuller by the day...

Quickie about debts if I may, I've a client (private not an agency) who went bust last April, can I put the full amount the owe me as an expense for tax purposes or just what I'd laid out on fuel and purchases?

The HMRC site is a bit hazy.

RM's stationary client, are they new or just new to self allocation? Not a great fee but the reimbursement is a chance to grab a few little gifts.

I'd argue that claiming the full amount is reasonable as there's the opportunity cost to take into account... i.e. you could have been earning elsewhere instead of doing the job for which you've not received the expected payment.

I'd be inclined to phone and ask them though.

I assume you are self assessing and not vat registered, in which case if you have declared it in your turnover you can deduct the full lot as a reasonable allowable expense, has to be done in the year it became an un recoverable debt though, even if that means going back to amend previous years assessments (not a major issue for small accounts)

    Category
    Irrecoverable debts written off.

    Allowable expenses
Amounts included in turnover but unpaid and written off because they will not be recovered.

    Non-allowable expenses
Debts not included in turnover; debts relating to fixed assets; general bad debts.
