credit file question

Hello all,
After finally deciding to see that paying a monthly subscription ( rather than say it's money better spent on debt ) i have signed up to Experian. Taking a while to digest all the info but it's stating to make sense & i have a question...
I have a CCJ on my file & although i have paid the full amount in full to the person owed Experian recommend i contact the court in question to request a Satisfaction Certificte & they will up-date my file. The CCJ dates back to Dec 2010 so if i request this certificate will it actually change this date to sometime now as it shows i have settled very recently and stay for the 6yr time scale as on your credit file ?
Regards, Graham.

No, the CCJ will still stay on your file for 6 years from the original judgment date.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hello fermi, thank you for that but now my next question is....
If i'm struggling to find the reciept ( i asked for as reciept when i paid the final amount to them, it is somewhere ) does this scupper any chance of me providing proof of debt paid or does should the person owed have contacted the court ?LBM 8/9/12 :j Owe £9103 8/9/12 :eek:0 -
Little nudge anybody
I'm still not sure to contact the court or not as yet i'm still looking for the reciept, which was hand written at the time i paid the final amount to him/themLBM 8/9/12 :j Owe £9103 8/9/12 :eek:0 -
Ask the court to see if what you have is good enough.
If it's not, and the creditor won't give you more, then you can still apply. The court would just have to write to the creditor themselves.
Application for a certificate of satisfaction / cancellation. If you cannot provide the court with evidence of full payment, the court will write to the creditor to confirm that the debt has been paid. If the court does not hear from the creditor within one month, it will issue a certificate.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I now have an official reciept from the person i owed ( rang & asked him
) so can send all this off for a certificate of satisfaction but is it worth it ? ie: does it alter anything on my file regarding the CCJ ??

It will be marked at satisfied on your credit report. A CCJ is still bad on that, settled or not, but a settled one certainly looks better than one that still appears to be unpaid.
Worth it? Hard to say? If it was me I think I would want my credit report to show it was settled.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
