Hi,
I start uni next week and I really need to get a bag. I need something big enough to fit a lever arch file in with pad/textbooks etc, but I really want to treat myself to something nice. Any ideas?

Accessorize have some nice big tote bags in that are waterproof, in a moustache or rabbit print.0

I start in a couple of weeks and bought this one from Oasis - I find their bags last really well. And I had a 30% off voucher emailed

It's a good size and nice quality.
I liked the suede studded one too.0 -
If you want something practical it's probably worth having a look through the men's department of TK Maxx and similar. I've found that men's bags are generally more practical and robust than womens - they also tend to fit more in (files, laptops, etc) and usually fasten at or over the top (I love the tote bags but I'm forever getting things wet when I use them!)
I bought this recently and can fit loads in it for work etc. I'm thinking of customising it a bit to make it less "blokey", but that's the only thing wrong with it0 -
If you're going to be carrying a reasonable weight in files and textbooks it's far better for your back and shoulders to use a decent quality rucksack...0

I'd second the Accessorize recommendation.
Why will you need to carry a lever arch file every day though? I'd say just take a smaller, flatter file (enough for 1 A4 pad) and then file the sheets at home after lectures each day...0 -
Paperchase have some nice bags I think (it says 10% student discount on their webpage too):

Get a decent rucksack. If you are going to be carrying any amount of weight, a rucksack will be a lifesaver. You won't be going home every day with aching shoulders or back.0

I use an Eastpak messenger bag for uni you can fit heaps in. it has a couple of zipped bits for phone keys etc.
I find the messenger bag great for putting folders etc in as they slide in and out easily and it stays upright when you balance it next to a table so you can reach in and out. I tried pretty big handbags so they looked more girly but they just didnt live up to the books and weight of uni work so I admitted defeat and bought my messenger and I wouldnt swap it for the world now.
I picked Eastpak because they offer a lifetime guarantee and also because they had lots of patterns so I could still have something nice.
I bought my current one off Amazon and if you pick the right pattern they vary in price0 -

I agree! Have a look at Swiss Gear /Wenger laptop rucksacks, very versatile and practical with lots of storage pockets.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0
