Equifax

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this but...

I signed up for the 30 day free trial to check my credit report on equifax, clicking on the link on their homepage. It asked me to enter my details and card details-saying that this was to check my identity and obviously if you didn't cancel after 30 days you would pay. However, once it had logged me on it said thank you for purchasing membership gold and when I check my card online, it had taken 69.99. Now at no point when I was entering my details did it mention this gold membership, or say that payment would be taken. I phoned customer services straight away and she is refunding my money yet was very dismissive when I said about what had happened. I'm fairly internet savvy and check all details so was wondering if this had happened to anyone else?
The other thing was at no point did I get a confirmation email which seems odd.

Many thanks,

  • This happened to me today, Exactly the same thing. I only wanted to check my rating as i had been refused for a silly catalogue account, which i only signed up to as i had money off of didn't actually want the credit (oh the trouble that caused!). So in a panic thinking id been black listed I sign up for a free trial at Equifax (turns out there is nothing wrong with it so i wasted my time anyway) Or so i thought they then set an email to say they had debited £69.99. I rung the bank immediately and the money had already been debited but they rung equinox for me and put me throughout to them.

The lady said she would close my account and pop the money back on my card.

She gave me a transaction id which i wrote down but I'm still waiting for the email conformation that the funds have been credited back and she said this could take up to 10 days so I'm worried as i have nothing in writing just an id number and her word for it.

Did you get your money back?
