Hello,
I just wanted others opinions of the situation I am in now and if I'm being taken advantage of.
I started working for COMPANY 3 years ago.
I started working for COMPANY as the only person in the office, so you can imagine the duties I had revolving around admin.
I was promoted by COMPANY 3 weeks ago to a position I felt was a real step up (I previously posted about the disappointment I had when the boss had stated the wrong wage and it actually 4k a year less than I was led to believe....)
I started my 'new' role with COMPANY and was genuinely excited.
A couple of days in, I received files I needed from someone who was doing it prior to me. They were a mess. I won't go into too much detail, but each 'case' has a deadline for something's to be completed. None had even begun the 'process' and had gone past the deadline. I have worked my backside off getting it up to date and I'm finally getting there.
Now, there are some things I need to do my role:
Postage services
More efficient printer/photocopier
Better computer (can't have more than two things open at the moment!!!!)
There are some things I was informed I would no longer be responsible for, such as managing petty cash, stationary orders, answering phones etc.
Since my re-appointment into the new job, my old role hasn't been filled. They have interviewed, but have clearly stated they have no intention of having the 'new' person answering phones, petty cash etc.
So I'm currently, managing all the office facilities, receptionist, a 'specialist' administrator (won't give much detail away but it's a pretty specific job!), and general dogs body on top.
It's all just too much, and without even the equipment I need I can feel myself breaking down.
I've tried explaining how I feel in a professional way and suggested ideas for how we can improve systems etc to help but I'm just glared at and expected to 'get on with it'.
Now I am a HARD worker, with only one day sick for the last 6 years for an operation. I am on the lowest pay in the office and just feel taken the mick out of.
Is this the 'norm' for a 15k a year job?? Should I be looking elsewhere for better prospects?
I'm so upset and confused. It was never a promotion really, it was a kick in the teeth!

Now surely it can't be too hard to ensure your computer totally fries in a cloud of black smoke. Or the printer suffers something terminal. Both might be too obvious though so you may need to prioritise. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
