Hiya,
I've been looking for a HD camcorder. I *think* I know what I want, but I can't figure out what is actually worth buying. There are just too many camcorders out there and I haven't a clue where to start.
Does anyone have any recommendations please?
Here's my list of preferences:
Up to about £200, flexible a little bit either way.
Not a mini camcorder, I want a proper one.
HD, but I'm fine with just 1080i instead of 1080p (I know some are sneaky that way)
Light (I'm a bit of a weakling)
Flash memory, option to expand with memory cards
Good image stabilisation (hardware is apparently better than software?)
Fairly good battery life, but I'd probably get a spare battery too anyway for holidays and such
Must be able to charge it without a USB port if I don't have my laptop on holiday with me!
Here is one that I have found so far:

But I don't know if I can get something similarly good that costs less? Or maybe that one isn't very good? :S
Things like wifi connection / touch screen would be nice little perks, but only if the rest is up to scratch and within the price range. Not a deal breaker
Many thanks in advance,

Why go for a camcorder. My little compact camera records HD video very well, and I only paid about £80 for it! I used the video capability on it to record over 40 minutes of video and it barely touched the battery. It may well be worth you widening your search to compact cameras too, more adaptability to them.
My one is this one as a starting point

Do cameras record sound though? Are they really any good for taking videos? :S
I already have a camera. Admittedly it's a bit rubbish, but I'm not looking for a camera right now...0
