Facebook like and share comps

Options
Just wondered, since there seems to be so many people that are anti facebook like and share comps, as opposed to facebooks comps that use an app, if there could be perhaps some way that we could include something in the post either for ones that are "like and share", or for ones that are "not like and share", in the same way that for example guessedenddate is used in posts, to make it searchable and easy to spot. What do other people think?

I tend to avoid facebook comps, as I am not really sure what I am doing with it, but might be more inclined to enter those that had a form to fill in, if I thought I might be emailed if I had won anything.

  • I thought most people already did that anyway? Most of them give a link to the page and a link to the post to Like & Share. You'll never get everyone doing it unfortunately.

  • Most posters tend to put Like & Share in the body of the post, however it may be an idea to add something like (FB - L&S) or (FB -APP) to the title to avoid people clicking on the link if they don't want to enter like & share comps - I certainly don't mind adding it to any FB comps I come across.

I know I can hover over a post and get the jest of what needs doing to enter but it may not be the same for all.

:TBig thanks to all competition posters:T
  • I think its a good idea thats if people are happy to do that. Although if people really dont want to I wont be bothered about it. I too hover over the comp and try to see the gist of a comp before clicking into the link, but as OnceUponADream has just said that might not be the case for everyone.

Ive stopped entering like and share comps now just because I think Im very unlikey to win (although I still enter ITV and other hugely popular ones)
Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday
Best Wins: Ipad, Nintendo 3DS, £400 Shopping Spree at LK Bennett, £100 Boots vouchers
Total Wins (Since April 2012) £3442.56
Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:

I was wonfering about adding a L&S/app to titles but then thought, I generally check what the Facebook prize in a potential picture is, then decide.

I don't object to the pic shares (despite facebook terms) I just object to the 'chance' of spotting the winning message
  • I have a question along these lines if I can?

I enter lots of these like & share comps, but as a result my timeline on my FB page is littered with them showing up.

If I delete them does that invalidate me as they will think I haven't 'shared' the comp? If I can't delete them, is there another way of 'sharing' that won't show up on my timeline all the time - my wall is covered with competition entries.

  • Hi,
I am new to this started about a week or so ago,
I have a question about Facebook,I do not want to bombard my friends with all the like and shares so i have set up another account with a new email,The problem i have with that is i have no friends to share with,
Is there a thread where i can add like minded people to face book just for the comps or am i better off using my normal account and making a list of people who do comps and just share to that list

the above quote is exactly how i feel.

In April of this year I entered a FB comp for a 3 day holiday in a luxury apt in St Ives Cornwall. I put a very flattery comment about Cornwall in the comments

2/3 weeks later one of my FB friends messaged me to say I had won and to contact the page my details. I hadn't had an email or notification letting me know.

This was the message from - https://www.facebook.com/TheSailLofts scroll down to 2nd April 2012

Thank you to everyone who has entered our competition... We now have a winner! Congratulations Jill Mann, do get in touch to arrange your spa break in St Ives!

Now what would have happened to that prize - which we are taking at the end of September?

I have made a decision today after reading this thread - i am only going to enter FB comps with an app. i am also going to post this comment on a separate thread to see how others feel.

There is, but it is against Facebook rules to have 2 accounts and they are cracking down on that now. Accounts that do not have legitimate names or are only used for comping are being closed without warning. So be careful. Also remember that just sharing with chosen friends won't work, the Company that you are sharing need to be able to see the share, so you have to make that public.
