Defaults

Hi all,

Quick question for you. I'm with CCCS and about 5 months from being debt free. I have 3 credit card debts. 1 has a default on it (ive checked my credit file) and the other two haven't. I got a letter saying another will be registered against me this month (ive spoken to creditor and its something to do with the fact ive had to lower how much i pay and at that rate it goes against getting paid back in 10 years!).
My question is: does it make a difference if you have 1, 2 or 10 defaults against you or once you get one thats it?

Thanks
Tim

  • Hi Tim :hello:

This is more about the lateness of the default rather than the number. It's very late to be having this default added with only 5 months of a DMP to go because it will stay on your credit record for 6 years from the date of the default.

It seems very mean and petty of the creditor to do this when they have so little left to recover from you. :(

Am sure someone wiser than me will be along with more advice soon.

I know I thought it was abit harsh but what can I do about it? would it be worth contacting the CCCS and getting them to write on my behalf or should I send a letter. I've paid off 8.5k of 9k i owe so im pretty miffed really.
