New Job - notice confusion

Hi there

I currently work in a school and have been offered a job working for the NHS. I just wanted to ask about giving my notice in.

I have to give 4 weeks notice but with October half term coming up i am unsure if i can give my notice in 3 weeks before half term (with one of the weeks being in half term). I also go away in half term so cannot start new job till after then.

I get paid pro-rata so in theory i do not actually get paid for the holidays but i dont want to lose a weeks pay while on holiday.

Is it possible for me to hand my notice in to my current employer and state that my last day of employment with them is during half term?

Thanks

J

    yes

notice is elapst time not working time unless specified

Notice starts the day after tyou give it so th last day is 4 weeks includes the day you give it allthough some places will count the day you give it so allthough if you give notice on a monday your last day is a Monday many will say the friday.

You should get paid for holidays prorata so make sure they the final pay correct for any accrued but untaken, allthough I think many schools work the holiday year on the school year so it won't be much.
