Hey everyone looking for some advice , husband has got a new job where he has to wear shirts etc, i have been ironing his shirts but i feel i am not getting all the creases out, this is the same when i iron tops of my own
So i think i need a new iron or one of these ironing system thingy's, can anyone recommend one that will do the job?
I also recently had to change the ironing board cover and the new one i bought ( minky) but it seems to be not thick enough? Can anyone recommend a way to deal with this ?
Thanks in advance

Hi
Get some non iron shirts. Wash and either tumble and hang or dry on hanger. Never need ironing --sorted

Lol yorksboy .... If only it were that simple0

Mum used to put folded sheets over the ironing board before using. Benefit was twofold, sheet ironed and clothing had plenty of padding from the board. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

I wash OH's shirts on their own on a Sat' or Sunday.
Use a lower temp' wash and spin speed for the shirts and hang on hangers or line dry do not use the dryer.I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
You can buy padding you cut to size specifically for ironing boards. Also a tip I learnt years ago was never to take your old cover off just cover it with the new one and after a while you get a really nice padded board. As far as irons go I am a tailor for a living and I can't praise Tefal steam generators enough, I've tried other brands but I've found them to be as good as Polti but much cheaper. Makro online sell them much cheaper than places like Argos. Also ironing shirts whilst slightly damp helps too.Grocery challenge June 2016

OP - I tried a friends steam generating iron system once and it was amazing! Makes ironing a dream and esp good if you do loads of ironing - I will def get one when we move out and I have the space as they are quite big. Its a good investment, her one was a tefal but I dont know model..
I iron my husbands shirts too and Ive noticed the better quality ones e.g hawes and curtis, Charles Tywit (sp) are dead easy to iron whereas the cheaper ones like ones from next always have a still creasy look to them, and our iron is supposed to be a good one.We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

Oh I hate ironing the OH's shirts. Will iron anything else happily but them.
I never take my ironing board covers off, must have 5 on it now, it's really padded now and super to iron on.
I got a this iron http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tefal-gv8461-pro-express-autoclean-steam-generator-iron-white-blue-13878603-pdt.html
Which I would highly recommend, I know it's super expensive but I got it on offer back in March, and I don't hate ironing as much anymore. It's not as much a chore now0 -
If you live in a hard water area think twice before investing in a steam generator. I invested in one which claimed to have a de-scale facility -(which I used regularly) but it died within a year!
It did produce good results but regularly spat brown goo over items ( usu without any warning!):jFlylady and proud of it:j0
