Job position wanting to do a credit check

Hi

I have a quick question,

A couple of months ago I lost my job which caused me to call up creditors to advise that I couldn't afford to pay their min payments, I was already struggling to pay them before I lost my job, I had to fill in a budget form to advise them all how much I was going to be getting and fill in the section on how much I was offering to pay a month. I filled it in and made an offer which was accepted, they advised me that they would not pass my details on to debt collectors although on two occaisions the debt was passed on to creditors before i had rung them and that all interest and charges would be stopped.

I have seen a job that requires me too have a credit check and CCJ check is me coming to this agreement with the creditors going to advise my possible employers that I have a debt problem, should I just not apply for the job?

Thanks in advance

  • A debt collector is the least of your worries as the agreement to pay will be on your credit record and has now put an adverse rating on your credit file.

You should get a copy of your credit file to see what state it's in
  • At the monment I am just bothered about getting a job so that I can pay more off my debts, I was worried about the agency who I'm going through to get the job will not offer me employment due to the agreements,

I don't intend on getting credit again as I have learnt my lesson a tad late I know, I just want to know if having the credit checks will show that I have a problem, in order to get a report I would need to pay for it and I don't have spare money for that

    Kind regards
  • Any bad credit shows up for SIX years after the debt has been cleared.

Yes the credit checks will show you have an arrangement to pay.
