Thanks FrugalPam and CFC, I've checked I'm on the cheapest rate for phone, utilities, insurance etc just didn't think I'd be allowed to cancel my mortgage protection with Halifax and get it cheaper elsewhere. I've read and re-read the T&C and I am allowed. Feel really annoyed that I've been ripped off for all these years!

Morning GR, don't forget that you can do some life insurance things on Quidco so you may be able to bag some cash back too.

Get some online quotes from insurers on quidco and you may find that you can get a little extra for nowt!

    Worth a try :D

Yeah hypno I was looking at that late last night. I absolutely love quidco and am waiting for my big payout for my home and contents insurance - hopefully by the time I get it my Argos card will be down to pennies and the bulk of the Quidco money can go to the Mint Card.

I did my car insurance on there last month and have done quite a few odds and ends of matched betting through sites on there so the money is building up nicely. My quidco cash goes off my Egg card. I got my closure letter from Mint while I was away on holiday :j

I just can't believe how moneysaving I've become. Budget and economise have never been in my vocabulary until now. JUst sent off for my first £10 Boots Voucher from Pigsback. I know its not much but its free!!!!

Have just been onto Greasypalm and M&S are doing life insurance for £11per month and I get £50 cashback!!!

I may give them a ring this morning before I go to work. I'm really confudes about their policy. It asks how much mortgage I got outstanding and it will pay it off in the event of my death does that mean its the same as mortgage protection policy???

try http://www.cavendishonline.co.uk for life cover and http://www.bestinsurance.co.uk/ for MPPI

those are who martin said to try last time I did mine. Saved a fortune.

Life cover pays out if you die
Critical illness pays out if you get a critical illness like cancer or go blind
MPPI pays out if you can't work for normally 12 months due to accident sickness or redundancy. Normally a 30 day wait for A and S and 60 or 90 day for R.
Income protection will pay a set amount for the rest of your life if you are unable to ever work again. The deferred period can be as little as 8 wks or much longer like a yr or two.

The secured loan has the Secured Personal Loan Repayments cover incorporated into the agreement, so its not as easy as to just cancel. This covers you for life, accident, sickness, unemployment cover

The TMP - Total mortgage protection plan, can be cancelled easily.

    There are 3 elements

    1. Live cover - level term
    2. Critical Illness - level term
    3. Mortgage Repayments cover - accident, sickness, unemployment, and carer cover - covers up to 133% of mortgage payment up to 12 consecutive months

You can have 1, 2, or all 3

you would need to get quotes to compare, but its whether you do it now, seeing as you have a separate secured loan or not

The loan protection on the secured loan is not an awful lot each month its about £17.80. Its the one with the Halifax I can't believe. Ive taken out mortgage cover which cost £6 per month and additional life insurance which was £12 per month.

I'm chuffed to bits to think that I can save about £40 and have a higher level of cover.

Great news GirlRacer. I had car insurance last year fromNorwich Union and when I said it was still too high at £160 they gave me free breakdown cover. This year I have gone through Quidco, earned £27 and got my insurance from the Post Office for £74. I love getting the good deals and I don't spend the savings either now. Very good at trying to be a debt free wannabee.

Oh I agree with you KittyBoo, its got the stage if the retailer isn't with any of the cashback sites then I don't buy from them. I'm obsessed with it all! I've even cancelled the DD to the AA - they take the annual subscription from my account every year in July. Not any more. From now on I'm going through Quidco and getting cashback from my roadside rescue :)
