mortgage PPI

Hi all,

Back in 2006 I had a mortgage with preferred mortgages which was advised by first IFA. We were told that we had to have PPI on the mortgage or we wouldn’t be able to have it.
With all the recent hype about PPI reclaiming I wrote to preferred mortgages asking them to repay the PPI which was mis-sold.
Preferred mortgages wrote back and told me that I would need to correspond with first IFA as they were the ones who had mis-sold the product – they also forwarded a copy of my letter to them.

Anyway, after a couple letters to First IFA went unresponded I found a number of the office they shared with an estate agents and it turns out First IFA ceased trading a couple of years ago.

Does anyone know where I can go with this next?!

Thanks in advance!

Preferred mortgages have no liability for the advice you were given.

If you still want to make a complaint you can do so with the FSCS. However, you may as well not bother.

1 - The FSCS only uphold 5% of complaints against mortgage advisers. So, you get an idea of the success rate.
2 - Your allegation is unprovable. So, it would be rejected (unless you can prove it).

Unless you have another failing which is factual or provable then you wont succeed.

for a 2006 sale, there would be no evidence that you had to have it as it would be displayed as optional
