  • Peasoup with ham and bread for dipping

    You can make the peasoup really cheap and as an easy cheats way by using the 4p mushy peas from tesco so even if you count a tin per person then you only spend 80p on the peas add some stock cubes and a bit of water to taste. Buy as much ham and bread as you can afford ( or is needed) and personally I like to add some cooked chunks of vegetables+potatoes to it too so it is a filling and chunky soup :beer:
  • Hey there Geeka,

    Would def say - play it safe! I would do something that is a crowd pleaser and not too adverterous!

    So my choice would be spag bol - pricing as follows (All from MrA)

    Smartprice mince x 3 = £4.68 (£1.58 each)
    Loose carrots x3 = £0.30 (Roughly)
    Loose Onions x3 = £0.68 (Roughly)
    Smartprice passata x6 = £1.74 (£0.29 each)
    Smartprice Spaghetti x4 = £0.96 (£0.24 each)
    Smartprice mixed herbs x1 = £0.19
    Bulb of garlic = £0.29
    Smartprice sliced mushrooms tinned x3 = £1.23 (£0.41 each)

    Total = £10.07

    That is assuming that you have olive oil to hand.

    xxxx

    Also if you wanted you could forget the mushrooms and bulk it out with porrige oats.
    I have enough money to last me the rest of my life......until I go and buy something!

    You can do a pretty good curry with diced turkey and lots of veg - carrots, sweet pot, baby pots, swede, french beans and some pulses. I can post my spice mix if you want. The outlay would be a couple of quid but you could make easilt a coffee jar of it so enough for 20 or so curries and tastier than curry powder.
