Am trying to sort out finances after previous years of Ostrich behaviour!!

I checked out the newbies page and have the following details:

Income -

Me - £1248/month
Wife - £469/month

Outgoings -

Mortgage - £531
Rates - £55.88
Electric - £33
TV - £10.95
Phone - £15
Mobile/Internet - £37
Car Insurance - £58
Life insurance (both of us) - £33
Building and Contents - £18.18
Worldvision - £36
Metro Ministry (child sponsor) - £15
Proton Finance - £132.97 (finishes 6th April)
NIIB - £69.38 (finishes 6th April)

Capital One Credit Card (mine) Balance - £500 / Account - £600
Capital One CRedit card (wife) Balance - £150 / Account - £200
First Trust Credit card (wife) Balance - £2000 / Account - £2500 APR 12.9%

Overdraft First Trust (wife) Balance £1000 / Account £950 APR 0%

    Welcome to the board! :)

    Sorry to say but if you're having problems with debt, the charity contributions will have to go - and you're paying a lot!

    Could you give us the monthly payments on the debts? Also what about food/hair/dental /fuel/car tax. If you're able to include these that would be great as then we can see how much you've got left etc. Well done to posting on here - you're going to get plenty of support and advice I'm sure.

    outgoings of £1045.36 soon to be £912.39 (after car finance finished)not including the credit cards!!

    you havent put down food expenditure, car and entertainment costs!!

    do u just pay the minimum of the cc's, have a look at the snowball calculator which will tell u the best way to pay them off.

    i'd second the suggestion to cancel the charity donations and thats a further 50 quid a month to throw at your debt

    mobiles change to payg if on contract

    One other thing that stood out from your SOA apart from what the other posters had mentioned, was you do not have an amount for Gas heating down. Do you only have Electric to your property?
