We applied for rebanding and have been refused and told we cannot appeal.

Using the house price calculator our house in 1991 would be worth £52,105 which should put us into band C, we are in band D. The only difference between our house and the others that are in band c is that we have a garage on the end of our terraced house. Surely though, that would not push the price up to put us in another band!

It could do - it only needs to go up £1 and it can fall in the higher band.

Well, if our house price was about £52000 in 1991 according to the house price calculator and the C band is from 52001 up to £68,000, then surely our garage cannot be worth £16,000, :eek: which is the difference between the two.

What are the other houses in your street?

The house price calculator is only a very rough guide, it doesn't REALLY tell you what your house was worth in 1991, much better to base it on neighbouring houses.

Thanks. We live in a terrace of 6 houses, the two end ones have garages and are both D band and the middle ones are C band. Larger semis across the road and also just a few yards down from us with garages and gardens are C band too.
