Some good offers on at approved foods at the moment. Got 2 bottles of liquid for £1.50 and it was fine, everything clean and it smelled nice with being overpowering.

  • I buy the 3 x 10kg bags of non bio *cough*Persil*cough* for about £22 from eBay and this lasts me ages and ages - I bought the last lot on the 1st May and I still have about 1/4 of the first bag left plus 2 full bags (although we were away for 4-5 weeks over the summer. I reckon a full bag must last us about 4 months. I wash for 5 people, one of whom is a plumber and another is a filthy 10 year old boy! ;)

  • Aldi's Almat seems to do they trick at a very reasonable price. Been voted a best buy by Which as well. I wasn't aware that they sold washing powder on ebay though. I'll have to check that one out :)

(My first post by the way - yay...)
  • i tend to buy either aldi or tesco own so im guessing thats as cheap as im going to get tablets. going to google soapnuts now though and have a look on ebay i had'nt thought of that. thankyou everyone
  • I always use powder - tabs just seem a glorious waste of money to me. If the washing isn't grubby, I don't put much in. I wash everything on a 40deg wash (used to use 60deg, but had a few disasters with things shrinking that shouldn't have shrunk). Separate lights from darks (washing them together will make the lights look dingy no matter how much detergent you use), only ever do full loads, and in the winter put the load through a second spin cycle - you'd be amazed how much drier they come out, which means more chance of getting them dried outside, or at least less time in the tumble drier. If I can't get clothes dried outside, I put them on airers in the kitchen overnight, so that at least the time in the tumble drier is cut down.

we've just switched to liquid almat and it seems good for us even with my psoriasis atm! we use half the suggested amount of whichever product we get and therefore dont ever use the gel packs as they are pre determined quantities at least with powder and liquid you can adjust your qty
    Blah
  • morrisons own brand colour liquid - but I use a fraction of the recommended dose. It lasts ages!

I always put washing products in the machine drum, not in the dispensing drawer - so no residue in the drawer and I can use less!
    :jFlylady and proud of it:j
