Job position wanting to do a credit check

Hi

I have a quick question.

A couple of months ago I lost my job which caused me to call up creditors to advise that I couldn't afford to pay their min payments, I was already struggling to pay them before I lost my job, I had to fill in a budget form to advise them all how much I was going to be getting and fill in the section on how much I was offering to pay a month. I filled it in and made an offer which was accepted, they advised me that they would not pass my details on to debt collectors and that all interest and charges would be stopped.

I have seen a job that requires me too have a credit check and CCJ check is me coming to this agreement with the creditors going to advise my possible employers that I have a debt problem, should I just not apply for the job?

Thanks in advance

Hi there, i had a similar dilema. I applied for the job, got offered it then had the credit check bit thrown at me by HR. I told them Id fail and why, they asked I write a letter explaining what happened to bring me to the status of BR. I did that and the offer stood anyway. If you dont try you wont know. Give it a go and see how it pans out. Good luck.

Why would any prospective employer do a credit check on someone? Why would they need to know your credit history? And what difference does it make to your work performance?
