    There are workplace regulations ...
    Light
    Heat and
    Ventilation

They are guidelines more than rules, and obviously not having a window affects them all and your welfare at work, any concerns, you should direct them to your boss, who must act, investigate any claim you make and provide a solution/ control measure, which could mean, regular breaks, better lighting, an extractor fan, or aircon, etc.

Yes there are people whose conditions are better or worse, that doesnt mean you have to grin and bear it!

    It's not monosyllabic so I don't doubt you'd struggle.
I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!

Obviously in the minority but agree with you 100% on this.

Reminds me of all those X factor wannabees who say to the judges " I really want this " Maybe they should have attended a session of The paralympic games or see some of our armed forces return from Afghanistan with no legs. Puts their stupid aspirations into perspective.

Surely when applying for a job indoors it wouldn't be a concern to most people whether there are windows or not. It's not a question you would be expected to ask at interviews if you didn't know what to expect from your working environment

Everyone has different ambitions, who are you to decide what's stupid? what's wrong with people on X-Factor wanting to become a famous singer or whatever it is they wish to be? People who are worse off exist yes, and disabilities can be horrible for those with them yes, and I would remove their pain and added troubles if I could but nobody should feel obliged to play down their wishes and dreams out of fear of sounding too materialistic in the presence of others, just because they're less privileged...

By that logic we should keep everything to ourselves to save upsetting those who can't sing, dance etc

Do you have to keep the walls blank, or can you add a few decorations? Even a mock window with outside scene kind of mural.
I guess trying to get lighting with a daylight tone would also help a little.

The employer should investigate - but only needs to act if any risk of harm exists.

Of course express concerns, but if any costs outweigh the benefits (reasonably practicable as you are referring to H&S regs) then our current legislation allows a little leeway.

Is the OP at risk of iminent danger because there is no window? No - would it be cost effective to put a window in a Portakabin that is probably hired anyway? No - so provided there are no fire escape or lighting issues, I see no problem.

Incidentally, my dad worked down the pits for over 20 years and he had no windows either!
