What's your ideal honeymoon destination

Not necessarily where you went (if married) or are going (if planning) but if money were no object and you could do what you liked, what would you do/where would you go?

I like the idea of having an island to ourselves. White sand and one of those wooden bungalow 'things' above the sea (although I think the sound of the water would bug me after 1/2 hour :rotfl:).

oooo I'd quite like to fly in a private plane.

With extra leg room (even though I'm only 5'2").

And champagne.

:rotfl:
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

I think we are booking ours tonight and it is almost ideal....a gorgeous all inclusive Caribbean resort and business class flights.

However, if money were no object, it would be first class flights, and it would be one of the incredible resorts I've seen online that look out of this world and set you back around fifteen grand for a week!!! However even I know that is mental and I am very excited about where we are going :D

Penang, Malaysia! I've always wanted to go there for some reason!

Or if we are really pushing the boat out, I'll take Necker Island, you know the one that belongs to Richard Branson? http://www.neckerisland.virgin.com/ We'll have that to ourselves for 2 weeks please, arriving by private jet with a chef to cook us pancakes every day and a couple of horses to ride around the island from beach to beach :) We'd just use the time to get to know each other again as husband and wife!

Daisy your Carribean honeymoon sounds amazing :)

  • Not really a destination... but a round the world trip would be nice!
  • I feel like I've considered almost everywhere for a honeymoon! In an ideal world I'd love to go to Australia, via Bali for a month or so (first class obviously).

In the real world I feel pressure for it to be a holiday of a lifetime but at the same time I'm aware that for the first few days we'll be completely exhausted and we also have a limit on time for various reasons. At the moment we're thinking somewhere in the Carribean for 7 nights (not sure where exactly), and then stopping off in New York for a couple of nights on the way home. That way we'll hopefully have enough holiday left to perhaps have a road trip in Italy later in the year as a second honeymoon ;)

We really wanted to go to Malaysia and Borneo for our honeymoon, but we dont have the money after the wedding, so I was thinking about saving that for a special anniversary. Another option was Vietnam so we could do the same tour as the guys from Top Gear. Would have been nice to end up in a floating bar in Ha Long Bay....

Hmmm, there won't be be any surprises in my answer! I am going to my dream place (Maldives) but if money had been no object I would have picked a different island. The one I am desperate to go to would have set us back £8.5k for 11 nights just for B&B, we could have pushed ourselves and done it but I would rather have another holiday later in the year for the same cost over all.

We are still hoping to go to that Island but maybe September/October when prices are lower :D

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

  • Maldives as well (which is where we r going) although...

I would do 10 days on the island (Upgrade everything, have jacuzzi water villa over the sea) and then fly back via Dubai and do 3/4 days there- staying in the really tall hotel, or the palm. Can't decide (and since I am not going seems silly to dwell! :rotfl: )

  • ahh! I thought I was a weirdo for wanting to go to Malaysia for our honeymoon! So glad to see it's a popular choice!
I went there a year before we met and loved it really want to take my OH there and figured if we're spending 3k on a trip there it makes sense for it to be our honeymoon!
I think we will spend 10 days there, 5 days touristy and the other 5 relaxing like you're "meant to" on a honeymoon, we're very into touristy things and he hates the idea of going somewhere and just laying in the sun lol.

Malaysia is an incredible country, i didn't visit borneo though. I would highly recommend a trip to the cameron highlands it was stunning so relaxed calming and tranquil... mixing that in with the hustle and bustle of KL on a trip is quite a contrast!

I have been on travelsupermarket this week and for my dates the top rated 5* hotel on trip advisor was about £1,300 inc flights (with a stop) which is a very good price imo!! hope that helps...... wow this post is long!!

Haha I would love Necker Island too.

If money was no object we would hire the island exclusivly for 14 days. We would spend the 1st week alone together then fly out some of our family and closest friends for the last week. This way we could leave our 2 kids with my parents and enjoy some time alone and then fly them out for some family time.
