Credit card/Bank account with 5 yr old CCJ

Hi

My CCJ (and 1 default) are coming up to 5 years old, next week.

I know Barclaycard state you must not have had a CCJ in the last 5 years, whereas most are 6 years which is when they obviously drop off your credit file.

My default was with barclaycard so i cant go back to them - but does anyone know of any other companies willing to give you either a proper current account or a prime credit card after 5 years rather than having to wait the full 6 ?

I have vanquis, aqua, capital one and natwest step account. Limits are fine on the cards i have £3000, £1050 & £900 ...... just wanting to get more towards the prime market if i can :)

Currently I owe £1500 ish between the cards as Ive had some very expensive vets bills the last month. Plus another bill due today for more treatment. Will get these paid off in the next 6 - 8weeks hopefully so not looking at applying maybe until after that ... but any recommendations would be helpful :)

  • Go for one of the creation(sygma) cards as many people have got them with defaults at the age of yours.
Flybe is one of the easiest also the football cards.

  • thanks :)

I will pay off some of the vets bills first and then the end of next week the CCJ is 5 years old, so will try Creation after that.
  • MBNA has the same in their application criteria. I got football club one 5 months ago (£2k limit). I had a 5 year old CCJ at the time and I was able to do cash transfer into my current account at 0% too. My CCJ has just expired on 1st Sept :j so credit file now clean, worst things on there are a few late payments (1's) for mobile phone which are over 4 years old
  • Interesting - i wonder what the easiest MBNA card is to get .... not sure i want a football one being a girl lol

Skintdad - did you find things a bit easier once you hit the 5 year mark ? My 5 years is next Friday :)
