when will my mortgage offer be completed?

I have received a mortgaeg offer from first national. I am a first time buyer and am purchasing a property, we already had an agreement in principle and our offer was accepted on 19th feb. all then went quiet on the mortgage offer front and to cut a long story short i ended up having to take over from the broker chasing the mortgage company and finally got a copy of the offer dated the 20 march to myself and my solicitor on the 27th march.
we expected things to be plain sailing from here on but upon chasing our solicitor for news we were told that the mortgage company were still waiting for proof of id even though our broker sent this at the time the application was made. we are also waiting to see if our building insurance quote will be accpeted as it is an online quote print out and our solicitor just said they may or may not accept it.
The solicitor seems to not want to chase up these outstanding issues despite our daily calls to see where things stand and we are still waiting for an exhange date from her which she seems very reluctant to give.
As we have no experience of our own does anyone have any ideas about what might have happened or any advice about where to go from here? We are very keen to get things finished and are panicking that the mortgage offer we have received is not going to be upheld and we will end up wasting time and money already spent on the house we are purchasing.

Oddly enough I was talking to my local Solicitor today and she started grumbling about clients who chase her a lot.
She said "I file them at the bottom of the pile if they chase me too much".
I have to say that clients who constanly chase me also end up with worse service because evreyone ends up duplicating work and the file notes get complex and worst still the lender ends up making mistakes and losing documents as the file is handled too often.
A big thanks to all the people out there who are mature enough not to be control freaks and just allow things to take thier natural course.
Controlling clients really should understand that thier experience is the same as everyone else's, its just thier natural responses are different.
The Solicitor has a careful and inportant job to do. Chasing them daily will merely lead to mistakes. Control freaks should understand they actually display a lack of maturity and common sense.0 -
thanks for your quick reply
i wouldn't say that my chasing has led to mistakes and delays as they had already occured which then prompted me to begin trying to find out what was going on. However i will take your advice on with regards to chasing.
I am just a little confused that as all paperwork has been signed and we have received a mortgage deed to sign and the deposit has been sent to the solicitor there still seem to be problems with the mortgage offer?
am i right or wrong in thinking that we shouldn;t have received a mortage offer if the company are not satisified with everything?0 -
I would chase them and hound themuntil the job is done, what do you think your paying them for.0
