Wedding budgeting and help on basics

Thanks for everyone's replies, I thought I'd update this post

We were married on 22nd December, small family affair, lovely day despite it raining all day
Everything for the wedding inc. registrar fees etc must have come in at under £500. Mother-in-law paid for sit down meal afterwards and a lovely wedding cake. I did my own make up and hair. I had a ring, husband didn't as not appropriate for his work. My dress was £45 and everyone was gobsmacked at how nice it was. Hubby and little boy hired suits/waistcoat for £100, plus about £30 spent on shoes and shirt for our son. Invitations I made myself. No photographer, but I have a good camera and other guests took photos, so got some lovely ones.
Had a small party at ours afterwards, but everyone was stuffed from the meal, so just had some alcohol - my mum gave us some Christmas stamps she saved up for us, so got plenty of booze inc. Moet and Chandon champagne.0
