Sorry if someone has already said this but I havnt seen it posted anywhere.
For anyone like my daughter that's a Plus size bride out there who is trying to find a perfect wedding dress without the torturous embarrassment of going into high street bridal shops only to find they only stock up to size 16 or 18,I have found Elderberry Brides who sell proper designer dresses NOT china knock off's & at proper prices..
She does sell small sizes as well.
http://www.plussizebridal.co.uk/

She also has sale dresses that are under 1/2 the normal price.

They have good reviews & go out of their way to be helpfull.

  • For plus size brides in Essex or near by I highly recommend http://www.curvycouturebridal.co.uk Jo and Tasha are amazing! They only stock size 18 and upwards plenty of dresses and it really is the princess experience every bride should have no matter of size!

I went here absolutely petrified of undressing and trying on dresses, but these two sisters made my visit sooo enjoyable! I walked into my private 2 hour appointment on to Plush white carpet, it feels like your in your own bedroom! I found my dress here and I cried sooo happy as I have not worn a dress since I was a child and to see me stood there in a wedding dress was amazing! I was made to feel absolutely gorgeous and I must add there was absolutely no pressure at all to buy!

100% recommendation and plenty of reviews also on the Internet about this company too! I hope this helps at least 1 gorgeous plus size bride feel like a princess :)

  • The Big Day in Castleford in an amazing experience. Friendly, happy, chatty staff who put you fully at ease about trying on. They have a massive and amazing range of brides and bridesmaid dresses and are very good at what they do.

This is where I got my dress, I had told them about the designer I like and they happened to have some of his dresses half price at that time. I tried on a few before mentioning the particular dress I love which they had in stock and I bought it then and there. Perfect day, dream experience!!!

I had previously been to 'normal' dress shops and it was a depressing and embarrassing experience.

My dress is from Elderberry! In fact I have my first fitting on the 19th Feb! Very excited! Pam and the girls at the shop in Basingstoke are lovely. My mum was on crutches when I went to try dresses on and the plus size ranges are upstairs - they offered to bring them down for us and helped mum get up the stairs when she didn't want them making a fuss!

I chose my dress on my first shopping trip. Clare didn't make me feel like a whale and gave me lots of choices to fit my completely indecisive ways! I also got my veil and tiara for a discounted price as I bought them at the same time.
There were lots of dresses to try in different styles and materials and I came out feeling excited and not the usual feeling of deflation at having people look at you and wondering who on earth wants to marry "that!"

Clare even told me my waist looked tiny - which I haven't heard since I was about 12!! I'm not particularly self conscious of my size, but wedding dress shopping was making me feel awful! Elderberry really helped. I would highly recommend!

There's also a plus size bridal shop in Market Deeping, on the border of Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire. I think it's called Embrace :)
