I just want a decent camera for ebay pics and for shots of my kids. I like argos as i can get the replacement cover (i've never had a camera last 3 years so it's worth it) this is probably my maximum budget.

of the two I'd take the kodak one.

I've had a bunch of kodaks in the past and they've always been fine. they've never taken *sensational* photos, and they tend to lack some features for the more "advanced" user.

But for ease of use and general picture taking (sounds like it might suit you), they're ideal.

Wouldn't like to comment on the other one :)

    Reasonable favourable reviews for Kodak:

Can't find any for the Hitachi.

Remember you will need to buy some AA rechargeable batteries and a charger (unless you already have them) for the Kodak (unless you want to keep buying disposables).
The Hitachi comes with a rechargeable battery, but as it will probably be a camera specific one, it may be expensive and/or hard to find, whereas AA rechargeables are pretty cheap.

I wouldn't buy either of them, I would go for this one, great results from a compact camera, and a better make as well.

If you can, see which one feels most comfortable in your hands and is easiest to operate.

that nikon one looks fine too.

It's a little smaller than the kodak, which is always handy, but..

    Most obvious downsides are
the number of pixels (not the be all and end all...)
the 1gb card limit (would wind me up)
    and
    smaller/worse quality screen

Well, for your stated needs it is fine, it is a better brand than Hitachi ( who just rebadge cameras ) and Kodak that do have quite a lot of reliability problems, build quality isn't up to that of Nikons.

For your eBay use, you will never need 7 megapixels, and for most uses, 5 megapixels is more than enough.

Oh and did I mention, the Nikon costs less.;)

A 1GB card will hold loads of pix, and you can always use 2 of them if one isn't enough, they are as cheap as chips anyway.

Your decision, whatever you decide, I hope you have great fun with your new camera.
