Job Seeker's Allowance is what is says - an allowance for people seeking work.
So, yes, you are required to find a job asap.0 -

There is a much more rigid set of signing rules being adopted. The grey book is the opportunity for you to list the steps that you have taken to find work. You should fill this in every two weeks before you get to the Jobcentre.
Remember, the three steps that you should take are those most likely to find you work. They will be different for everybody. Some people will have the skills and abilities to move back in to employment pretty quickly. Others may need extra support such as CV help, Jobsearch help. Whatever steps that will make your jobsearch the most effective are the ones you should be doing.0 -
Seems reasonable to me, why should people claim JSA if they have no intention of Job Seeking.0

Hi, yes the 'Looking for Work' grey booklet is your proof that you have been seeking work and goes hand in hand with 'Jobseeker's Agreement' that they had you sign. Its not always 3 things to find work - the figure is based on a discussion between you and the advisor and you must have agreed a figure of 3 with them at some point before you signed?
Mine states that I will contact JobCentrePlus twice a week which can be done through their website, not necessarily going down to the JobCentre and using their machines, and I just jot down times and dates.
I was issued the same 'Looking for Work' booklet when I last applied for JSA about 18 months ago but it was hardly ever checked. I was, however, told last week when I claimed that it would be checked every visit. HTH x0
