Hi
I'm a supply teacher and have been signing on JSA as theres been no work. Got my first (EVER) booking next Thursday.
It is under 16 hours (just the one day) so what do I do?
I'm assuming I dont have to sign off as its just the one day but I just have tod eclare my earnings. When do I declare it? When I've worked it or when ig et paid?

Hi,
Declare it when you next sign on, when they ask if you've done any work. They'll want to know the date and hours you worked and how much you will be/ have been paid. You get to keep the first £5.00 you earn the rest will be deducted from your JSA0 -
There arent exactly hours worked as its a day fee. So will just tlel them the day and the day fee. I'll get the first £5 then I'll lose all my JSA as its an £80 fee. Does that mean I'll get £85 in total as I get the first £50

No, it means you will get no JSA and you can keep your earned income. You don't keep the £5 as such, it is an allowance (i.e. you can earn £76 before losing all JSA).0 -
Ok I thought you kept the first £5 whatever. And how can you earn £76? My JSA is only £55 a week so if I earnt over £55 i'd lose it for that week.
Will i lose my JSA for 2 weeks or just the one? I onyl get £80 for this day but I get £110 in JSA for the fortnight0 -

The JSA rate for those 25 and over is £71, you did not state you were younger.
You will lose payment for one week.0 -
As my profile says I am 22 so get the under 25 rate of £56.250

excuse us if we don't view your profile first
You only keep the £5 if you earn less that benefits, I think you will have your money stopped for the week but should get the full money for the following week, but let us know what happens.0 -

I was meaning that it is on there as well
Visa versa though I wondered why i was assumed to be 25+
I have an appointment with my job advisor the day after my job so I will inform her then. I am assuming I will have a payment of £56.25 into my account for hte week prior that I didnt work, and lose the one weeks JSA for the week I did work.0 -

I'm guessing it's like police offices, we all think they are older than us, then we realise we got old and now they are all young whippersnappers :rotfl:0 -
