Blue felt tip pen on cream carpet

The sadistic people we bought our house from installed cream carpet in the living room.

My darling son has drawn a long line of navy blue felt tip. It's just one line but it's 4 feet long and it stands out like the proverbial sore thumb.

I'm scared to add any kind of liquid in case it smudges. I have considered vinegar and q.tips but would like to put it to the vote on here first.

I have a hazy memory of somone suggesting hair spray to remove biro on a couch ages ago.

Could you try spraying a little bit on one end of it and using paper towel to mop it and see what it does.

People in the past have raved about Stardrops to remove marks from carpets - maybe that would work?

Sorry to be vague but i saw your comments on old style and thought you should get some kind of reply to show willing.

Hi, I've used hairspray on a fabric sofa and it does work remarkably well as it appears to lift the felt tip pen from the fabric and then just needs wiped off. Not sure about carpets but if the mark is really annoying you it's maybe worth trying in on a tiny bit of the mark to see what happens.

    Good luck!
