I'm with everyone else here wishing you lots of luck Peter, you'd be suprised how many of us are in the same boat!

Having looked at your gas & electric...do you use the same provider? There are some that give you discounts & payment plans for paying by direct debit.

I pay £24 Gas & Electric each a month, if I dont use the allowance in the summer, they keep it for the extra gas/leci I use in the winter.

Also, with the council tax debt, can you not fill out an income expendature form for them to see that you can't afford £50 a month & maybe offer them less? The worse they can say is no!

Good luck to you & your family
    Hugs x

    Hi Pete (fellow evertonian)

Can you just clarify the cash till pay day situation. Are you writing cheques (five a time for £100 each and then rewriting them every month - less their commission). If so could you not let one a month go through till you have paid it off.

I probably shouldn't advocate this, but I had a payday loan as above and I couldn't get out of the situation. However, a combination of losing my job and the bank closing my account (due to reclaiming bank charges) meant I defaulted on the payday loans. They sent me to a debt collector who is quite happy accepting £30 per month. I must add however, they did add charges onto my account which meant I owed them a lot more. This was not through choice.

The other option you could try is nationaldebtline. They have a website and they will give you advice on how to tackle your payday loan. They are much more experienced in this kind of debt.

    hi there Peter

It really does sound like you are in a pickle

You are in the right place though, dot worry about how you type, mines not much better :)

I would say the most important thing to do is to look at these payday loans.

Whatever you can do, do to get out of these.

    the suggestions I have are
what do you have to sell- can you do a carboot sale ( ask a freind/ family to borrow their car)
what about selling things on ebay or amazon?

Does your wife work, even if she did some babysitting or part time work it has to help. I dont really understand cash till payday loans, and how to get out of them I only ever used them once or twice, but they were one offs till payday then not again.

i agree, if youve ever "bounced" your account and been charged 30 quid etc, you can claim these back have a good read of the bank charges forum on here and write some letters ( theres templates too) you need to be organised, but I got over a grand back from my bank and it really sorted me out.

    Best of luck x
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • I got a leaflet from them, apparently £14 per hundred actually works out at around 444% APR, but because it's short term lending, it looks worse than it is. the moneyshop were quite good to me as they let me swap my cash until payday debt for a loan with similar payments and the loan pays off the interest and capital - i would do this while you think about it
