Work PT & Start up my Own business PT

I am currently employed part time and they pay my tax and NI through PAYE, however to supplement this I am starting up my own therapist business which will also be part time. How will it work in regards to my tax and NI going forward. And who do I need to alert to my change in status at the HMRC.

All advice greatfully received.
thank you
Penny

You need to register as self employed with HMRC, and they will then invite you to the excitement which is self-assessment.

If you do not expect to make more than c.£6000 profit from your self-employment, ask for a certificate of exemption from NI. If more than that, you'll need to set up a DD for NI.
