Starting married life, it's time to focus on waving goodbye to debt!

Hi everyone :wave::wave::wave:
Decided to start a diary as I LOVE reading all the ones on here, I find them soooo motivational
A little about me, I'm 30, just got married 2 weeks ago to the love of my life, we have a lovely home, my husband (still love saying that!) has 2 amazing kids aged 11 and 8, we have 2 gorgeous cats, decent jobs and overall we have an amazingly happy life together apart from the one thing...... Debt
We are both terrible with money but I really want to change that so we can build a better future for ourselves. I don't want to focus on the past but more on the future. We are actually on honeymoon just now (my husband thinks I'm crazy thinking about money here!) but being away has been sooooo relaxing after the craziness of wedding planning that it has given me time to think about it all and now I'm really ready to tackle this debt once we are home on Wednesday.
Im the kind of person who gives things 110% when I'm focused so know that we can do this. My husband is happy to do anything that I think we need to to rid ourselves of this debt so having his buy in makes life so much easier knowing that we will be doing this together.
Once we are home, I will be calculating exactly how much we owe (I know roughly but managed to lock myself out of Internet banking for one bank so can't see these figures grrrrrrr!) and will be putting together a plan to get ourselves out of debt and into a happy, debt free future :j
We want to move house soon and start a family and need the debt to go/ be reduced for this to happen. Am feeling so positive and happy that I know we can do this
Thanks for reading and any tips on budgeting and paying off debt will be very gratefully received

Day 2...
Today I have updated my signature, written down all debts and info on them in a notepad, done a couple of surveys and completed my snowball! Not bad for being on honeymoon! It's actually raining today so not much to do other than read so thought I'd get stuck into debt busting
I have also been impatiently checking my RBS online banking waiting for the credit card statement to generate so I can pay some money towards it- how sad is that?! Am just wanting to see the debt heading in the right direction- out of our lives!
Hope everybody is having a good day themselves

Hi DD1981 an dcongratulations!
I too started my diary after getting married in June (BTW still loving saying husband!!)
If you are focused you can do it! we all help each other on here. I find the Payment a Day thread really great - drop by and have a look - you basically pay something off a debt everyday - doesn't matter if its 1p or £1 but it means every day you are reducing your debt!
enjoy the last few days of your honeymoon!New surname New start!

Headabovewater- Thanks for the congratulations
Great idea about SOA, have seen loads of people posting theirs but never thought to do mine?! Shall get onto that
Am sure there is places I could cut back
MinniMe- hi fellow newlywed! Congratulations
I really like the idea of paying something every day, it appeals to my liking to see things moving in the right direction! Shall def have a look at this and will check out your diary too
Love the signature
Beanielou- 5 years and counting down! Hopefully will be sooner but as long as we get there I'm happy! I see you are also in Scotland so  from me. Also a beautiful wee cat in your pic- is he/she yours? I'm daft about cats
And finally, AMAZING weight loss!!!! Am very impressed, I'm hoping that our new frugal lifestyle will involve some weight loss from me! How did you do it?
Is so lovely to have such lovely replies, adds to the motivation SOOOOOOO much! Am off to see if I can telepathically send messages to RBS into sending a statement, never have I wanted to give away my hard earned pennies so much

Day 4..... And we're home!!! Had an amazing honeymoon but it is lovely to be home

Paid £215.48 off credit card today so very happy about that
£22.48 was interest though. Re-registered for internet banking with one of my bank accounts so will be able to see the exact amount on credit card when I get all the details through and also exactly how much the overdraft is. This is the account that all my bills come out of so will be able to double check the exact amounts and post my SOA too.
Our house is so messy and cluttered just now. All our wedding gifts, stuff from the wedding, stuff from honeymoon and just all our general stuff is EVERYWHERE! Finding it difficult to know where to start! I can actually see from looking at our home why we are in debt, we have SO much stuff! I have a ridiculous amount of things that I can put on ebay which is great and also have lots of things from the wedding that I'm gonna try and sell through a forum the I went onto whilst wedding planning. Have been putting things aside whilst tidying up and so far there is LOADS! Is a great thing but quite overwhelming too thinking about the time it takes to sell it all! Will get there though
Today's plans are....
*Wash all the bowls, scoops and tongs from our sweetie buffet and get pictures taken of them and of all the other things we have to sell from our wedding and post them on wedding forum- DONE! plus have lots of interest so should sell easily
*Get washing done from honeymoon- mostly done!
*[STRIKE]Re-register for internet banking[/STRIKE]
*[STRIKE]Pay credit card bill [/STRIKE]
*List printer on gumtree- not done- shall do Thursday
Have included stuff I have already done, it always makes me feel better to see things striked off already
Hope everybody has an awesome :money: day
