cheapest place 2 buy pls: millet & quinoa?

Options
Holland & Barratts is a very nice store but not the cheapest. My local Tesco used to have a significant pulses section but has stopped - choosing to concentrate on `other foods' instead. Sainsburys quoinoa is not `own brand' but some quite expensive stuff.

Where can I source cheaply quinoa & millet? They are v healthy options for meals & make a change from pasta or rice.

I agree Holland & Barrett is very expensive! I see you're in London, - have you got any independent grocers or health stores near you? They might be a better bet.
  • I know that the co-operative do own brand quinoa (wholefoods section) for cheaper than the H&B stuff. I don't think they do millet though.

Do you have a weigh and save type shop anywhere nearby? There's usually a whole world of wonderful goodies to be found there!
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

Hi, amazon is very cheap for quinoa:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dgrocery&field-keywords=Quinoa&x=0&y=0

The Crazy Jack organic quinoa is £3.25/kg - nearly half the price of Sainsbury.
  • If you need millet, go to eastern european shops and ask for "kasza jaglana", they have it in all shapes and forms. Same with buckwheat. But with buckwheat, get them in skinns. Pealed ones loose 70% of their goodness.
If you like vegies in vinegar, try something called "patisony", they are yellow, and look a bit like UFO. They are good for you, and taste superb.

My friend is polish, so If you need more advice on unusual foods, contact me. I might help.
