Pain after dentist appointment?

Just trying to get an idea whether this is normal and I'm just being a wuss, or whether I need to make another appointment?

Basically I've always had what they call 'good' teeth. Always looked after them, got to 22 with no work having been done aside from baby teeth taken out because they had been practically hanging from a thread for months (at age 19...). Then I had some serious post natal depression and stopped taking care of myself. It took a long time to start feeling better, and a few weeks ago I made my first dentist appointment in 3yrs for a checkup. I was terrified when she said I needed 2 fillings, but agreed to the work as one of them was starting to hurt a little (it was the intermittent pain that made me have the appointment, I sort of expected that something was needed). Now the fillings were one on each side at the bottom. I went for the appointment today and she said she couldn't do injections in both sides of the mouth, and if I wanted, she could do them in the same appointment but one of them (the very minor one) could be done without an injection to numb it and it shouldn't hurt. I agreed, and even though I was shaking the whole time, thought I was very brave (and it actually hurt to the point of me shouting out, and she stopped and I told her just to get on with it I didn't want to have to come back a second time lol). The second filling was done afterwards and I am pleased I had the work done before any serious damage happened (I have also been put off of fizzy drinks and fruit juice for the foreseeable future).

The problem I have now is all of my bottom teeth hurt and feel quite badly bruised. Having never really had work like this done before, is this sort of pain normal?:o
