Voluntary Unemployment & JSA

Irrespective of all the speculation about what might or might not have been in anybody's head on a night out drinking, when photos came out... for whatever reason, good or bad, the OP wasn't happy in their employment and the employer wasn't happy with their performance over the 3 months they worked there. The OP quit, voluntarily. And unless they can evidence discrimination, which is not apparent here, then the fact remains that they quit. So they can either tell the JC staff their side of the story or not - it doesn't change the fact that they resigned. It might, if a sanction is applied, and we don't actually know that, change the length of the sanction, but given that they resigned it probably won't make much difference. But tell or not tell is their choice.0

Saying a child is cute doesn't make OP a pedo. I call babies cute all the time when I see them. Does that mean I want to violate babies?
OP is stupid for quiting. Should have asked "Am I fired?" when the boss asked you to leave. Then sue employer.0 -

OP cannot "sue" as they have only been employed for three months.
No one suggested OP was a "pedo".0 -
wow you got all that from the comment "he's cute"
I've always taken it as a compliment when anyone has commented on how attractive my children are and that hasn't changed now that daughter is old enough for those comments to possibly be meant in a sexual way.
Why would you take it as a compliment if a total stranger commented to you that your daughter was sexually attractive?
In a business situation, it's totally inappropriate.0 -
The OP didn't though. Why would you take it as a compliment if a total stranger commented to you that your daughter was sexually attractive?
In a business situation, it's totally inappropriate.
But by the by I said possible sexual way. If someone said "oh she's fit I would like to xyz her" then I would tell them to be more respectful. Is someone said "oh wow she's gorgeous" then I wouldn't take offence but at the age she is it's very possible they were thinking of her in a sexual way.
I still don't think that someone commenting on a photo of a customers son is inappropriate when their response is essentially he's cute. (especially a repeat customer as it would seem this one was)0 -
I wasn't even thinking about the age.
Customer in pub takes out photo of beloved child (whatever age), shows it proudly to young bartender, young bartender makes a comment based on child's sexual attractiveness. Totally inappropriate.
I think the OP thought he was being showed a picture of someone's adult son, not a child.... and it sounds like the lad was 16+. I imagine the job centre staff would be too embarrassed / politically correct to push it if the OP explained.0 -
I would be tempted to also send a letter to the Op's past employer saying that you are thinking about taking them to court as I believe their treatment towards me was because of my sexuality and the reasons given to the DWP about why I left were a lie and again I believe is based on my sexuality...they may change their story or just crap themselves, either one would be good.0

Not only was the OP not sacked, but they weren't even in work when they quit. They were out drinking on a social occasion which happened to be with the employers. This was a private and personal function - nothing to do with work. Astonishing really since they already didn't like the job and didn't want to work there, but chose to spend their out of work hours having a drink with the employer. How complex is this going to look?0
