Readers Digest did a similar "offer" earlier in the year...and a lot of people took up the offer...me included!

What a disappointment when only AB&C books arrive, and you then have follow on deliveries of other books, so many at a time, for which you are charged.

Very difficult to cancel the follow on subscription...not to mention loads of junk mail from Readers Digest :(

How can they make this into a subscription when there has been no mention of one? You make a single payment for what's in the description so if they try to take more money from you and produce a sudden subscription, that's theft is it not?!

I missed the earlier deal that was listed so I had no idea what happened and would love to know how they would turn this deal into a subscription... will have to go and search this one out, thanks!

    Quote from the order page

The three books come with two sets of picture cards and a play mat. This is a single purchase and there is no obligation to buy any other items.

I ordered earlier in the year as I too jumped into it thinking it was all the books so fab bargain.
But alas it was not :(

Lots of people who bought it at that time said that they sent them back, which was really easy as RD arranged for them to be collected etc, and got refunded, so at least they made that quite easy.
I was one of the silly ones who never got around to that, and so have 2 of them still sitting in a box somewhere, although the 1 mat I did get out my little boy does like actually as he loves his ABCs!

They didn't try and subscribe me or anything to the rest of the books, but the junk mail  - Is there any way to make that stop? I've tried contacting them, but just keep getting it all. It goes straight in the bin, but still. I was taking some rubbish to the bin when the postman came the other morning, and could see that was the only letter he had, so I opened the bin up and told him he could post it straight in there :D

I tried, got the thing into my basket but it wouldn't let me go any further, something about Cookies but even when I adjusted the settings, it wouldn't let me go on. Oh well.
  • I too took up the last offer but also returned them and was subjected to lots of junk mail.I emailed them and told them to cease sending me mail as I was going to Mark it all return to sender from the date of email,I then received a letter from them saying sorry I no longer wished to receive offer?! Lol,and I would be removed from the mailing list but it would take couple of weeks, and I have to say they have done so as I haven't had any recently. :0)

Please please don't buy anything from Reader's digest-not worth the hassle at all-I ordered this last time around and did not receive the item at all! Money was taken from card and when I rang them up,they promised a refund but because card was in my husband's name-he had to ring them up personally-even then,no refund onto the card-had to wait for a cheque to come a few weeks later.

And then-wait for the junk mail-it is UNBELIEVABLE-made my blood boil no end-I could not just recycle it because every single page in the junk mail used to have our name or address detail so had to be torn or shredded. One fine day,I called them on an expensive line, not bearing it anymore and gave a piece of my mind and a couple of weeks later, the letters disappeared.

Normally,I don't hesitate about buying deals on MSE but that bad experience later,I only now buy things from retailers I am familiar with.

Yes I ordered last time and returned it - as you cannot give a gift of only three ABC books and not the rest.
By the time I had ordered they had stopped it being part of a series they were sending and confirmed it was just three books and not the rest. Returned ok for free and refund no problem - but still getting junk mail - not bothered trying to stop it yet though - but might now.

Must be desperate to get rid of it as it was about £5 when I bought.
