Car Mileage Tax Allowance?

Hello, I was hoping someone might clear this up for me. Basically I use my own car infrequently for work and claim back 20p a mile from work when I do. I understand that I am able to claim another 20p back from my tax using a P87.

Can someone confirm this is correct please, and if so what evidence do I need to send in to be reimbursed with the 20p per mile?

You'll need to claim it via self assessment and keep a copy of the petrol receipt.

keep a record of what you get re-imbursed from work. You can claim the tax paid on the difference i.e the 20p allowed is refunded at 22% so you get 4.4p back per mile.

Worth £44 for 1000 miles. £11 for 250 miles.

I claim a tax rebate for this type of stuff every year, all it takes is a record from work and a letter, although there is a form you can use, but I get mone without one.
