Hubby's 40th Birthday - an update

Some of you might remember a few weeks I asked for a (virtual) slap as it was going to be hubby's birthday and I was contemplating spending a shed load of money.
Anyway I thought I would let you know what I settled on!
Last night we went to the all you can eat and even with a bottle of wine the bill came in at under £50 - the bill original had the bottle of wine missing from it but I couldn't not pay for something I'd had (not very DFW I know but I believe in karma!)
House was decorated (as was his potting shed) care of tesco and we've had a normal sunday dinner followed by a birthday cake care of ASDA.
So all in all a much cheaper birthday celebration than was planned but none the less as equally enjoyable!!!

I think beforehand I was getting carried away with what I thought should be spent on his birthday rather than spending it on what he would enjoy.....in fact when I told him what I originally planned he made the comment it sounded very much like something I would enjoy!
Hopefully we can get out of debt by the time he's 45 (yes we're in for the long slog!) and then we can make up for all the lean years!2014 Target;

Hi, Nice going.
I know its nice to go and splash out on a fancy meal and party but I am of the opinion that what really matters is to spend time with friends and Family on Birthdays.

Interesting thread as my OH is 40 in two months. However, he doesn't want any "fuss" as he calls it and has threatened to divorce me if I arrange a party / decorate the house etc
Think will probably be going down the family meal route too. Glad you enjoyed yours!0
